While Bigby Wolf and Snow White may be complicit in the ill functioning home office as employees of it, they both still want what is best for the community above all else. But because the system is broken does not mean that individuals themselves are tainted. The system in the fables’ community is horribly broken and corrupt. That can be an even greater influence on how a player chooses to proceed more than how they wish to behave within a vacuum. And like The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us keeps track of your relationships with other characters. The Wolf Among Us is a detective story, so when Bigby is not in a violent situation, this option is represented by a choice to follow procedure or to play by his own rules. The constant character choice highlighted by the game is whether or not Bigby gives into his baser impulses. Each situation that he gets into is tainted by how much he is willing to leash or unleash his inner wolfish nature. In the game, Bigby’s choices usually boil down to a Mass Effect style paragon/renegade dichotomy. Despite how it may look on the surface, The Wolf Among Us doesn’t follow this logic exactly, but instead builds on the idea of options not being built on a binary system at all. And even then, minimizing harm was a matter of opinion as different players found themselves with different priorities, such as which characters they cared most about and wanted to see harmed least. Suddenly the player wasn’t trying to maximize benefits for the sake of gameplay, but only to minimize harm. Telltale challenged this standard approach to morality in games with 2012’s The Walking Dead by presenting the player every opportunity that it could muster two terrible options as the player’s choice. These weren’t moral choices at all, but mathematical problems hidden behind a thin veil of fiction. Although he is now trying to do good, Bigby has a hard time connecting with other people. However, he eventually finds himself wrapped up in an even larger conspiracy operating in the shadows of Fabletown. After meeting a young Fabletown prostitute named Faith, only to soon discover her severed head, Bigby investigates the murder. And depending on his behavior, sometimes Snow White will get close to him as well.Ĭhallenge. He can always track her scent and even knows when her mood changes. For a long time Bigby has had feelings for Snow White. So he smokes often to drown out the powerful, unpleasant odors that fill the city. Being a werewolf, Bigby’s sense of smell is extremely acute. But as Fabletown’s new sheriff, he wants to leave his past behind and use his strength to help the people, even if they don’t trust him. As the Big Bad Wolf, Bigby was a feared villain. Bigby now lives in Fabletown, a recluse for fairy tale folks hidden in plain sight in the heart of New York City, safe from the humans or “mundies.” But since his father was too strong to confront directly, Bigby took out his anger on others. The son of two forces of nature, the North Wind and the Winter Wolf, Bigby Wolf had a sad childhood watching his mother die after his father (the North Wind) abandoned her and the litter.
